Amal Clooney is one of the leading human rights lawyers in the world. She is a barrister specializing in international law and human rights, described in legal directories as “a brilliant legal mind” who is “in a league of her own” with a “commanding presence before courts.” She has helped to secure milestone judgments on behalf of ISIS victims, civilians subject to crimes against humanity in Darfur, countless victims of sexual violence, and journalists imprisoned around the globe for their work. She is also a Professor of Practice in International Law at Oxford University and author of seminal textbooks The Right to a Fair Trial in International Law (with P. Webb) and Freedom of Speech in International Law (with D. Neuberger). 

She is a Senior Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Technology and Justice, a global initiative dedicated to harnessing the power of AI to increase access to justice. Amal is the Co-Founder of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, a charity that has helped free over a hundred journalists and advocates and helped thousands of women defend their legal rights in court. Her work has led to numerous awards, including from the American Society of International Law, the Legal 500, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, the King's Trust, and Time Magazine.
